For the Love of Darkness

For this project, I used a crow quill pen, Micron pens, and ink on paper. The purpose was to learn different types of shading techniques like hatching, cross-hatching, and stippling.

On a tile floor, there is a shampoo bottom on the left side and different kind of shampoo bottle on the right. In front of the right shampoo bottle, there is a small bottle of conditioner. Behind all of them is a towel laying on the floor.
I used stippling for the shadows that objects cast on the ground, but ink for the shading of the objects.
On top of ruffled sheets sits three books. From left to right they are Junji Ito's Smashed, Shiver, and No Longer Human. In the background is an open ArtBin.
For this drawing, I used a Micron brush pen for the outlines and major designs, and smaller Microns for the sheets and shading.
On top of a carpeted floor is some ruffled cloth. On top of that is a Nintendo Switch with the Joy-Cons detached.
Here I used a brush pen for the Switch and carpet texture, fine Microns for the shading on the carpet, and a round brush and ink for the cloth under the Switch.
A drawing of a chrysanthemum with a long stem on a piece of paper much longer than it is wide. The top half is surrounded by black paint and the bottom is surrounded by the different shade of black paint.
This was the only drawing for which I had a crow quill pen available to me. I used it to draw the chrysanthemum and a flat brush to paint Ivory black on top and Mars black on the bottom.
