My Artist Statement.
The series of photographs you see before you represent the many parts that make up a location that means a lot to me. The Alpharetta City Center is located in the heart of downtown Alpharetta. It sits in downtown Alpharetta’s heart, representing both endings and beginnings. My dad had a barber shop in downtown Alpharetta since 2009 and in 2018 it closed, and he opened a brand-new shop in the new city center. The same year the new shop opened I became a high school graduate and a year later would start my higher academic journey at Georgia State University. The city center was one of the first places my girlfriend and I went out together when we started dating. It’s where I go on walks when I need inspiration or a breather from the cesspool of life. I wanted to capture this location through my eyes as a chance to show the viewer where I have started spending my time and forming core memories from age 18 to this very day.
