Week 4

Here’s some of the cool stuff I’ve seen in the past week. The piece pictured in the top left, “Stressed World” by El Anatsui, is made with bottle tops but totally reads as textile work, which I find fascinating!

I would love to have the opportunity someday to visit one of Yayoi Kusama’s “Infinity Rooms.” I’ve included pictures of two such rooms in this post. Each are distinctly different in feeling and atmosphere, but unified by the inclusion of her signature polka dots.

As usual, much of my favorite work comes in the form of weaving. I just stumbled upon Diedrick Brackens’ work recently, and am very inspired by how understated yet evocative it is. (Pictured in bottom row.)
