Multimodal Annotated Bibliography

The purpose of this Multimedia Annotated Bibliography as described on the University of Cornell Library website is “to inform the reader of the relevance, accuracy, and quality of the sources cited.” My project includes a list of ten citations for scholarly articles, popular media, images and videos. Each citation is followed by a brief descriptive and evaluative paragraph, which is the annotation.  Each annotation focuses on four main characteristics. These are: the topic of my source, reasons as to why I chose the source,  any flaws or weaknesses and the relationship among sources. Usually, the annotated bibliography would state and support my thesis, but since I don’t have a thesis yet, these annotations serve as pillars for my thesis. Since each draft of this project was public on Storify, the audience was my professor, my peer review group and everybody interested in reading it.

From the assigned readings, Chapter 2 Analyzing Multimodal Projects and Chapter 5 from Everything’s An Argument were most helpful. They provided concise examples on how a finished project should look like. Additionally, I’ve learned that there isn’t always a correct answer when analyzing a text. After all, people have different perceptions when reading a text, or looking at a picture. However, now I know how to better guess or hypothesize when doing a rhetorical analysis because I know the areas I need to address. Those are;  the audience, purpose, context, author and genre. Based on my peer review, I reorganized my citations and focused more on the summary and relationship among sources. I am really happy with the way it turned out!
