With this profit first mentality business has caught a negative eye in the public view and some of the things are quite easy to fix with aspects of social issues and caring for the people but much damage, some permanent, has already been done to the environment. One statistic that I found to be quite staggering is that, since 1988, 100 companies have been responsible for 70% of greenhouse gas emissions. This is a crazy number due to how many industries there are that cause this sort of damage to the environment like the fashion industry (which ranks third in industry greenhouse gas emissions) but most of the top 100 are fossil fuel industries. This does not even consider other areas where business have a hand in pollution like waste, damage to water (like oil spills and other things), and many more things.

Although all of this is true and business cannot reverse all the damage caused to our planet they are also the biggest catalyst for change. With the amount of backing and money in business they can pump in ways to be more green as it has also been found that more sustainable practices have been found to lead to higher profits and a more positive public view which all corporations can get behind.
