VUCA can be used in different ways depending on the job and the situation presented. Using VUCA will allow any career to analyze any unexpected situation and in order to adequately combat VUCA situations, it is important to utilize three steps. Identify your VUCA, define the obstacles that act as barriers to organizational success, and implement dexterity enhancing properties. When it comes to identifying VUCA, there are different methods to overcome each obstacle. When volatility is present, create goals or visions for the future to motivate other employees. When uncertainty occurs, research all the information possible to understand how this situation can be overcomed while reflecting on the team’s strength and weakness. When complexity occurs, research information that will help understand countless interdependencies and lead to a correct decision. When ambiguity occurs, communicate everything clearly for the team to succeed. 

SIOP (society for industrial and organizational psychology) emphasizes the importance of agility in individuals, teams, and organizations. Agile is the ability to quickly adapt to new information, requirements, or strategic conditions. It is a set of principles and practices that have been increasing in fields like software development. VUCA business is crucial for organizations to build on agility, as it helps them understand employees when there is a need for change. Leaders make choices based on organizational strategy, visions, missions, and values. Both people and organizations have specific roles and interactions that they need to understand. Supporting and rewarding their people shows agility. Promoting agility involves a culture and mindset, which can be demonstrated through role modeling, instituting new practices, training people on new tools, and supporting formal and informal rewards with desired behaviors. Values and norms such as deep interpersonal respect, collaboration, and continuous learning are essential for fostering agility.

In the year 2020, a world-wide pandemic hit known as COVID-19. Many businesses were unprepared for the situation COVID-19 made within any business. Worley analyzed how organizations were unprepared and did not have the capacities to succeed while revealing structural inequailty(COVID-19 and a VUCA World). Just like these businesses, VUCA is utilized to combat unexpected situations while also having an agile mindset. According to Worley, agile does not consist of acting but more for learning which is underestimated. One can not push for actions without understand what has caused those actions. Within a business, employees can analyze situations and reflect on how it would be overcome. Utilizing VUCA makes it clear that nothing can be taken for granted within a job. 

VUCA techniques that can be utilized throughout a work space include heedful interrelating, framing and design-thinking approach (Managerial Approaches, Frameworks, and Practices for Business Model Application in Public Services Management in the VUCA Environment). 

Through the technique of framing in order to remove ambiguity, framing involves evaluating important information in order to establish an initial context. Inappropriate framing can result from inexperience. It’s possible to draw comparisons between past failures and successes and the dangers that exist now.  Status in the group has significance since people with more knowledge hold power. 

A communication process known as “heedful interrelating” involves assessing the situation and talking about the potential outcomes of various courses of action. Reminding people to pay attention to how their actions relate to the circumstances is a part of this process. Another conceals specific responsibilities which limits questioning between crew members on their current attempt. Finally, one of the most important ways to reduce ambiguity is to emphasize the value of crew integrity.  Careful relationship-building seems to be prevented by isolated behaviors that could endanger others. Adjusting is the ability to continuously shift the course of action while remaining aware of the situation.
