Personal Grit

Grit in one’s personal life can be both a pro or a con.

Pros Cons
Research study surrounding the Cadets at the United States Military Academy, West Point, is that Grit is strongly correlated (r=0.63) with self control. Grit does not actually have a correlation between SAT or overall GPA shown by the same US Military Academy Study.
Grit is a habit:

through grit you can develop habits for deliberate practice for studying, work, learning etc.

Quitting can be a good thing. Grit often compels us to stick to things that affect us negatively.
positive personality connections Stubbornness and grit can be viewed as two sides of the same coin
High levels of grit in your personal life are connected to achieving goals and the Hierarchy of Goals model Grit may make us compare ourselves to others and see another’s talent as a challenge. (see NPR Genius)
Grit is connected to motivation Grittier people may view their compulsions as more influential than reason
