My name is Marina Fishman, and I am so thrilled to be a part of this exclusive group going to the Society of Women Engineers conference this year. I am a computer science major. While I have a strong passion for it, I am not as confident about my specific career goals. This is one thing that I am really excited to explore at the conference. I am planning on doing my best to learn everything I can to help inspire my aspirations. I am only a sophomore, but I’ve actually had a bit of experience in computer science previously. I participated in a Girls Who Code summer intensive camp in high school where we learned so much about coding and computer science in general. It was so nice to be surrounded by people like me both in gender and in shared interests. This is another thing I am excited for at the conference. As a woman, I am well aware that men outnumber me in this field. I can’t wait to be surrounded by thousands of other women like me. This community is one that I definitely want to be a part of. The final thing I am excited for at the conference that I’ll mention is the speakers. I plan on attending as many educational sessions as I can. Again, I can’t wait to let other amazing women in my field inspire my future. This conference is going to be such an amazing experience, and I am so lucky to have gotten this opportunity.
