I am Kulsum Saber, currently a sophomore in my first semester, majoring in engineering, potentially civil engineering. In the midst of accomplished women who are creating opportunities, especially for women of color like me, the SWE23 conference stands as a remarkable dream realized. This event goes beyond being a mere gathering; it signifies a pivotal moment in my journey. Not long ago, I battled feelings of inadequacy that clouded my pursuit of engineering. Now, I step forward to represent my university at the grandest gathering of women engineers. The mentorship I sought from strong, driven women around me guided me from self-doubt to self-belief, while an internship this past summer at a civil engineering company further solidified my ambitions. This conference serves as a platform to embrace and celebrate this developed drive among members of a supportive, uplifting community that reflects these very ideals.
The prospects at SWE23 hold immense promise for my academic and professional path. I eagerly anticipate the career fair, a space to network with companies that aren’t just leaders in innovation but are also committed to championing an ecosystem that thrives on the harmony of diversity. Furthermore, I look forward to engaging with women speakers whose insightful talks on empowerment, growth, and the ever-evolving landscape of technology are bound to broaden my horizons and perspectives. In conclusion, the allure of this conference lies in its potential to shape my journey towards strength and achievement. It’s more than an event; it’s a stepping stone toward becoming an integral part of this vivid tapestry that is SWE.
