My name is Danielle Scordo, and I am a sophomore engineering major aspiring to further my studies in electrical engineering at a 4-year university. My pathway to STEM was unconventional. Inspired by my fascination with power and energy, I returned to school to engage with those concepts more deeply. I am currently working on research related to power quality in electrical systems, which has expanded my understanding of power systems and provided me with an in-depth look into my field of interest. My passion for reliable power and energy coincides with my desire to be a part of the change we need to divert the climate crisis. By earning a degree in electrical engineering, my ultimate goal is to create and refine systems that affect climate change. Returning to school has presented challenges, but it has been an enlightening experience. Every day offers an opportunity to expand my horizons on diverse topics, and I feel truly grateful to experience significant personal and academic growth at this phase of my life.
I am so excited to attend SWE 2023 with such an inspiring cohort. I look forward to attending sessions that address neurodivergence and mental health within STEM, advocacy for marginalized voices, and anything related to advancements in sustainable energy solutions.
