What is SWE?
In the year of 1950, the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) was founded as an organization built to empower women in STEM and engineering fields. At the time, women made up less than 1% of employed engineers. It was considered a non-viable profession for women. In order to foster a sense of community amongst themselves, SWE was created as a safe place for women to network and “gain their full potential” in their developing careers. Keeping to its principles, today SWE has evolved into a community of more than 40,000 members from professionals to collegiates all over the world!
What is the SWE conference?
SWE holds an annual event that spans three days providing attendees with the opportunity to engage in a wide range of activities. Including but not limited to workshops, sessions, and career development opportunities. It is considered the largest conference for women engineers.
When is the SWE conference?
This year SWE will be held from October 25th – October 28th.
Where is it being held?
The SWE conference is held at a different location each year hosted by different cities in the U.S. and at times, internationally. This year (2023) it is being held in Los Angeles, California at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
