BED
I’m a little confused on the categories for the Built Environment Descriptions. Wouldn’t each site have historic, political, and cultural context? Do we have a specific set of sites to choose from for each category? And is this just one site that we do multiple BEDs on, or do we pick three different sites?
This is a good question. Yes, each site provides evidence relevant to understanding its history, its cultural significance, and how it has been shaped by or shapes the political landscape. One reason for using a different emphasis in each of the BEDs is to begin thinking about what evidence do historians rely on, and how do they use it? What evidence is relevant to a cultural analysis, and how is it used? What evidence gives us clues about the relationship between politics and the built environment and how is it used?
