Under the Kitchen Sink (19 September, 2022)
For this assignment we had to draw the space between objects, rather than drawing the object itself. My first attempt at negative space drawing was very challenging. As I started (seen in the third sketch) I had a tendency to draw the shapes I saw rather than the space that created the objects form. I also feel given the size of my paper, I limited my ability to capture the entirety of what I saw. My second attempt at the sketch improved tremendously. I used my darker charcoal pencils to show the contrast in the objects. In my final sketch I focused on making my lighter and denser objects more airy rather than using harsh and dark lines. I accomplished that by using my lighter charcoal pencils. I used my darker pencils and harsher lines for the more solid and closer objects.
