This project marked a fantastic conclusion to the semester. I thoroughly enjoyed immersing myself in this drawing, particularly as it gave me the opportunity to reconnect with graphite, a medium I hadn’t worked with in a while. We kicked things off by diving into thumbnail sketches. I was drawn to the idea of creating something ‘nightmarish’. Being someone who often experiences vivid dreams, I felt there was a rich well of inspiration to draw from. After bouncing ideas off my peers, we settled on the concept of a bat-like creature, which resonated with several dreams I’ve had. Once I had my rough sketch down, I began creating the tarot card shape, added flowers and text. After the boarders were finishes, I created the enigma figure.
