This project was an experiment with line variation. We chose about six objects (mine all from or around my desk) to set up into a still-life set, and replicate. I aimed to create a drawing that represents my workspace and also myself. I chose a few objects which I thought would be fun to draw, and also some with more meaning.
- A speaker: Music is a huge part of my life, and I draw a lot of artistic inspiration from it. I’m almost always listening to music, so including a speaker felt like a natural choice.
- Two plants: With 15 plants in my room alone, adding plants to the piece was a no-brainer. They not only reflect my love for nature but also add a cool organic aspect to the composition.
- A water bottle: I always have a water bottle with me because I prioritize staying hydrated. It also adds some height to the arrangement.
- A computer mouse: Gaming is one of my main hobbies, so incorporating a mouse seemed fitting. The cord also adds visual interest to the piece.
- A Rubik’s Cube: I wanted to challenge myself artistically by drawing something intricate. Mixing up the Rubik’s Cube and setting it at an interesting angle achieves that goal.
- Hand sanitizer: While initially a placeholder, it could represent my pride in maintaining good hygiene and organization.
