These are my color sheets of the hues I worked with in the painting, as well as each tone, shade, and tint.
This assignment was to practice painting with acrylic, we had to pick 3 hues and use only the shades and tints within those three hues. For my color palette, I decided to go with fiery tones – reds, oranges, and yellows. I painted a hand holding a deck of playing cards, each card with a flame. To make the colors stand out even more, I opted for a dark blue background. The first step was mixing and experimenting with the hues to create a range of shades and tints. It was interesting to see how the intensity of the fire theme could be captured through variations in color depth.
By the end of the project, I had a vivid painting that showed the power of a limited color palette. It was a hands-on lesson in color harmony and acrylic techniques, and I could see how each decision, from color selection to composition, played a role in the final visual impact.
