The Compassion Poster Project was a design assignment that challenged us to create a collage poster that would encourage people to have more compassion for a specific group of people. I chose to focus on people with chronic illnesses. The project was centered around gaining a better understanding of the following elements of design through practice with a specific tool or technique while also pushing the message of being compassionate for a specific group.
During the process, I had the privilege of interviewing my friend who has ankylosing spondylitis, a form of arthritis that primarily affects the spine. Their insights and experiences added depth and authenticity to my project, influencing the design choices and messaging of the Compassion Poster Project. Through our conversation, I gained a deeper understanding of the daily challenges faced by those with chronic illnesses, which further fueled my commitment to promoting compassion and understanding through design.
