About Me

I’m a curious learner and mixed methods researcher with a passion for people, technology, product innovation and human-computer interaction. I enjoy connecting with users of all types, and delving deeper into their behaviors, motivations and goals. I have strong instincts for problem solving and extracting actionable insights through question generation, study planning, relevant design, and team collaboration.

My foundational research interests explore the influence of language and culture on cognition. I seek to apply what we know about the interplay among these phenomena to explore opportunities and limitations for Natural Language Processing (NLP) within conversational interfaces; to optimize design of user-centered technologies in formal and informal learning contexts; to democratize access to technology; to increase equity in the product development process.

For the past several years I have worked as co-investigator and project director in the lab of Dr. Robin Morris, Associate Provost for Strategic Initiatives and Innovation and Regents Professor of Psychology at Georgia State University on a project with Dr. Cynthia Breazeal and the Personal Robots Group at the MIT Media Lab involving the use of social robots as learning tutors in elementary classrooms. This fascinating work continues to fuel my interest in human factors research, specifically in the realm of AI/ML powered interfaces focused on language-based learning exchanges.

I am also a senior user experience researcher focused on helping organizations to engage consistent research practices within the product development process that increase empathy for the user and improve business outcomes. To my consultancy in UX research I bring:

  • a nuanced understanding of psychology and human learning
  • knowledge and expertise in a variety of research methods from ethnography and interviewing to usability testing and prototyping
  • an entrepreneurial business savvy and knowledge of product development
  • an understanding of the role of user research and its relationship to the product life cycle
  • workshop facilitation, communication and presentation skills
