Title: Butterfly/Seahorse
This piece is made with all wire. To my eyes, it looks like a sea horse with wings, also. The process was not very challenging, although I did have a few hard moments. I first made the caterpillar part first (which is the part in the middle.) It took me some time to learn how to tighten the wire with the pliers, however, I mastered it! I had to make a 3-D shape, so I put a symmetrical shape at the top. This was not too hard as I thought it would be! I love it!
Butterflies are all different sizes. Male butterflies are larger than female butterflies.
They come out and fly mostly in the summertime and when it is sunny. If you notice we don’t see a lot of butterflies in the wintertime! They hibernate in the holes in trees. Their temperature drops in the winter, that is why they hibernate. They don’t fly in the cold.
Butterflies have large, brightly colored wings.
The wings are attached to the thorax (the chest). The antennae are used to smell. The body is protected by the exoskeleton. The abdomen reproduce the organs.
Most butterflies drink nectar from flowers through their tongues, which function like straws. They eat plants.
My Plaster Project:
This project I had to make a sculpture. It started with a cube of plaster and I had to recreate it into my own masterpiece. I was open to this project. Mixing the water and the plaster was very fun to me. This was my first time drilling anything. I’m glad Ms. Lisa walked me through this. It felt very weird for the drill being in my hands. It was also my first time using all the tools that I used, especially the mallets. It did make my hand hurt a little. I had to be gentle with my techniques. This is one of the projects that also took me out of my comfort zone. It was fun from time to time chipping away the plaster to make my sculpture. This project was an eye opener. You can create anything you put your mind to. I made sure I was relaxed and went to work.
The Armour Project:
The armour project is to create an outfit that symbolizes a problem that we need a solution for in society. I decided to do my project on single moms. My objective is to give motivation to single moms. My daughter is my motivation. She always encourages me and I encourage her. In a cardboard box I painted it and put rigid wrap around it. I put sayings that I always say to her and sayings that she says to me. On my cape, I have her drawings, schoolwork, and pictures of us on here. My goal is to let every single mom know that being a mom is challenging, however, it is doable and worthwhile! Children are a blessing and a joy to have! They did not ask to be here on Earth, so help, protect, nurture, cherish, care for them with all your might and their lives will be a pleasure for the world to see!
Materials: cape, cardboard box, rigid wrap, clay, drawing paper, paint, paintbrush, scissors, Jayla’s work/drawings

Title: Cat in the Castle
I love this piece.
I folded the paper horizontally . I drew a cat with ears and legs. Because it was horizontal, it came out double. I cut out 6 strips and made whiskers and 2 more strips and made it a curly tail. I added the rest of the paper to make statues. In each piece, I had to make a 3-D sculpture using one sheet of paper only.
Picture on the left:
Title: Birthday Horn
This picture reminds me of a blow party horn for a child’s birthday party. One of my classmates’ said it looks like a squid. This is one of my favorite pieces.
I folded the paper into a triangle. I cut the paper that was left. I folded twice. At the end, I folded the paper to make a 3-D image. I cut a lot of strips to help make this more creative. I use only one sheet of paper to create this.
Picture on the right:
Title: Funny Bunny
I call this piece “Funny Bunny” because the body of the bunny is very unique.
I drew two bunny ears. I crumbled the rest of the paper to make the bunny’s body.
Title: Blossoming Plants
I initially wanted this to be a straight flower, however, it turned out to be something different. I named this ” Blossoming Plants” because it looks like something sprouting up from the bottom.
I laid this flat and the shadow from the paper is amazing!
I cut more than half of the paper and folded it back and forth to make a flower. I realized it would not stay. I lifted it up. It was some paper left over, so I made four circles and about eight strips and here is my creation! I had to do this using only one sheet of paper!
Title: The Ornament Bow
This put me in the mind of Christmas. (The Christmas ornament people put on a Christmas tree.) Christmas is my favorite holiday, by the way! Smile! I love the way this came out!
I made a triangle and cut the sides of the triangle. I opened the paper up and twisted the strips skipping one and going to the next one. I was trying to make a flower, but it didn’t work out like that. I had paper left over, so I made two strips and made it into a nice bow. I made this with only one sheet of paper.
Title: The Curly Pinwheel
This is one of my favorite pieces. I folded the paper into triangles and I made a pinwheel. The paper that I had left I used a pencil to make the other paper curly.
I folded the paper into triangles and made a pinwheel. The paper that I had left I used a pencil to make the paper curly. This was created with only one sheet of paper.
I loved creating this piece, it was so exciting!
Title: Fiery Mountains
I called this piece ” Fiery Mountains” because it looks like two mountains and I was putting fire on the sides of it. I used an xacto knife to cut the shapes.
I folded the paper different ways. There were two triangles left. It was very plain to me, so I added two shapes on the sides. This was created with only one sheet of paper.
This is one of my favorite pieces.
Title: The Beautiful Swan
This process was very easy. I folded the paper in half horizontally. I drew a swan. I drew lines in the middle and cut it out. On the sides it cam out the same. i cut out a tail for the swan and placed it at the bottom. This was created with only one sheet of paper.
Title: A Dog in the Castle
I love this piece very much, one of the reasons is I had to do the original one over.
I folded my paper horizontally and I drew a dog with ears and a tail. I created statues with it to make it seem like the dog was in a castle. This was created with only one sheet of paper.
Title: A Different Type of Bell
I named this ” A Different Type of Bell” because it looks like a church bell and/or a bell pepper.
I love the lighting of the picture. I folded the paper and glued it. The paper I had left I made it into a handle. I use only one sheet of paper.
