Philosophy of Teaching

Following a moment of profound soul searching, I realized that my true passion was to teach math.  I decided to follow my purpose in life.  I was truly excited when presented with an opportunity to teach high school math.  My mission became to positively impact students who do not feel confident about their current math skills nor see the relevance of learning new skills and concepts.  I feel that teachers are the last line of nurturing for young adults as they enter society.

My mother truly cared about her students.  I observed her genuine interest in each student as well as her compelling desire to insure that her students improved.  She was neither her students’ friend nor their adversary.   Therefore, my personal philosophy of teaching has evolved into the concept that:  learning happens when the need for understanding intersects with the transfer of real philosophical ideas for individual application.
