Society has to become more educated about mental illness. Elisa Lam was a young girl who was suffering from this terrible mental disorder which is probably how she wandered into the water tank. Elisa most likely had a manic episode that caused her to hallucinate and drown. If society was more educated about mental illnesses like this then we would know not to blame her behavior on things such as drugs or paranormal activity. People might also be less likely to jump to the conclusion of murder since her behavior clearly shows that she has a mental disorder. If programs or classes were made to help people learn about signs and symptoms of mental disorders like this then it’s possible accidents like this would be reduced. Once society excepts and understands these disorders, we can begin to see the signs and symptoms and could possibly save someone’s life.
