On February 19, 2013 residence at the Cecil hotel in Los Angeles, California complained of poor water pressure and black colored water coming out of the sinks and showers. The hotel maintenance crew went up to the water tanks on the roof to try to fix the problem and the cause was shocking. A dead young woman was found naked floating in the water with only her watch and access key to the room. The body was identified as Elisa Lam who was a 21-year-old student from British Columbia, Canada that was visiting L.A. She checked into the hotel on January 28, 2013 but was then reported missing by her parents on January 31, 2013 after they had not heard from her in several days. Nobody truly knows how Elisa’s body got into the tank (Proctor). Although there are several different theories about what happened to this young woman, it is most likely that she drowned accidentally due a previously diagnosed mental disorder rather than being murdered.
