Last night I was on Facebook and was scrolling through my feeds. I ran across a video that looked interesting, shared by one of my friends. I clicked on the short animated video clip and was left completely mind blown. The clip was originally posted on a Facebook page called Power of Positivity. The video clip starts off by saying how a wealthy man’s son was graduating college, and that the son wanted a brand new car. The son has been asking his father for one because he knew his father could afford it. When graduation day had arrived, the father gifted his son with a wrapped gift and congratulated the son for all his achievement. When the son opened up the gift, he was disappointed only to have found a journal. Angry, the boy went to yell at his father and threw the journal on the ground. Years later when the boy became successful, he realized it was time to put the past behind because his father was aging. Moments after, the boy received a message about how his father had passed away and left him all of the estates. The son returned home and began searching through his father’s important files, where he saw the journal his father had gifted him. As he opened the diary, he flipped through a couple of pages and out fell a car key. The tag was still attached to the car key, and it read that it was paid in full. The father wrote that he wanted his son to write down in the journal wherever the car takes him so that the child could remember the memories forever and signed it. At the end of the clip, a precious lesson is given to the viewer. It says that, “No matter what you expect, be grateful for what you are given. It may be more of a blessing than you think”.
The video provided me with a very powerful message because I feel that some people may not be grateful for what they have. They always feel like they have less and want more, more, and more. They fail to realize that what they may presume to be less may mean a lot more to someone else who maybe has nothing. It’s important for us to be grateful for what he have and not what we don’t. We should be happy for everything we do have because they are blessings, and somewhere someone might not be lucky to have the blessing you have with you. If the son gave importance to the gift for the thought and not for the value, he wouldn’t have realized too late that the father put more sentiment and thought into the gift. To the father, the car wasn’t just a graduation gift but something he wanted his son to keep with him forever in remembrance of the many memories he would make with the car. We all should appreciate the things we have because who knows we might have more blessings in the future, but only by having an open mind.
