Welcome to my page! My name is Leyla Arslan, I'm currently 23 years old and I love creating art. It's been something I've done since a little girl and I've always had such a big imagination. I feel like there are endless ways a person can make art and they can do it with reason or no reason at all. There are so many mediums I got to experience working with that I would not have thought of before. I love bringing my ideas to life and seeing others execute visions of their own. My goal is to one day be in the graphic design field creating what I love someday!

3 Drawings & Sequential Narrative
This project was a combination of drawings and comic strip scenes that were inspired by the 3 different 1pt, 2pt, and atmospheric perspective drawings. We had to incorporate into our hero attributes that were related and personal to us, which started off with tons of brainstorming and divergent thinking. My image for these projects was something magical, and when I think of creating a story to be in a short story, I think of her fighting monsters and on some kind of journey, which is what I really intended to show in my final work. I wanted to include my Turkish side in my story by having the hero fight monsters to get to her parents that she hasn’t seen since living on her planet, Zila. I thought of the places I personally love to be an addition to my story and have my hero cross those places along her journey to find her parents. My process started with a deep dive into what my own personal history has been, what I think could be my future or in the future, and where I could possibly live as my hero or where I’ve personally lived in my life and jotted everything I could list down. I drew places that I could imagine my hero being in and got inspiration from tv shows I have watched and places I’ve been and drew a 1pt perspective of the ocean, a two-point perspective of a treehouse, and an atmospheric perspective of the possible monster in my story that the hero would encounter. I then thought about the physical attributes of my hero and what the family life would be like and tried to bring all the ideas then together to create a cohesive story. I then thought about the panels I wanted for my layout for my comic strips and what would look most pleasing to the eye of the reader and went with the one I saw most fit. My professor really liked my drawings in the end and suggested I put an open window in my ink wash drawing, which made me a little hesitant at first because I hadn’t worked with ink wash too long, and I didn’t know how “see through” the window would look if I added one, but I took the risk and added it, and it ended up being a great touch for the final drawing. I learned throughout this project that you can actually love new mediums to work with that you’ve never tried, and stepping out of your comfort zone can really surprise you with what you come up with, and it might just be your new favorite thing.
