The classrooms of Transfiguration look very childlike but mostly because they are used for Pre-k, day care, kindergarten, and Sunday School; these classrooms are also used for multiple groups that exist such as La Divina Misericordia, which I am in, La Legion De Maria, Cafe con Dios, Mujeres de Fe, and many others in both English and Spanish.
There are good measures of safety precautions with multiple firealarms, exit signs, cameras, air conditioning, elevators, water fountains, bathrooms, general direction signs so the people know where to go and do not get lost. All of this allows for more security and commodity for the people attending or visiting the church.
The way I have observed and noticed the choir is it is very lively and spiritual the music that happens in the Church during mass in both English and Spanish. I feel like we have a pretty good choir because I have heard them. They have stands, microphones, a piano, percussion set, chairs, someone that handles the electronic equipment, and more.
This is the short history of this beautiful church. It was about a group of families, about 75 families around the 1970s that had spiritual retreats in the Northern part of Georgia, and eventually would keep growing into a religious community now being Transfiguration Catholic Church. There were around 45 families that celebrated the first mass of Transfiguration at a hotel November 13 1977.They started from scratch and ended up having a build called a Family life center and then eventually June 22 1997, having their own parish center to hold many activites led by a few Priests and a Monsignor over the years.(Transfiguration) (http://www.transfiguration.com/about-us/new-to-transfiguration/)
My experience in Transfiguration Catholic Church has always been a beauty with very good ministries, very good Priests, with everything a person needs to be complete spiritually with the Eucharist, Adoration, Retreats, Speakers, the Sacraments, a complete version of the Bible, and much more. I always feel welcome, I feel calm, and that the people are always caring and generous.
Now in the day and night I walked through the Church’s glass doors, I immediately saw a cross in the center, the ground with a circular pattern and the tile like cream with green and another design, two baskets on my left filled with cans and all types of items to give to the poor including a “poor box” to use the money to help the poor, a statue on my right that was The Virgin Mary with Joseph and Baby Jesus. I also heard many noises of children and people working in the church, but in all that noise I decided to go upstairs to save the actual temple and little chapel last. When I went upstairs I saw an elevator, a relaxation area where one can relax, read, chat in a group, even to take a nap. I also saw a library with stacks of books in shelves and tables to be able to read there if anyone wanted to do that. I started to go in a hall where I immediately heard noises of children and the adults at the nursery, and saw a sign (there are many signs in general) that guide the people so they do not become lost. I went to the Bishop Hall and found the miraculous image of the Virgin Mary on the window. I found in many parts of the church the security and commodity in different things such as the vending machine, fire alarm, elevator, camera, and more.
I did not smell anything unusual, or anything at all really. I felt the presence of the Lord especially in the little chapel where the Blessed Sacrament is located. I also heard the flowing waterfall of holy water in the temple. I felt a peace all the time as I was pacing through this experience. The temple is extremely beautiful and artistic in a modern yet mosaic way. The transparent glass doors and windows which show nature made me feel calm and tranquil. This is was an incredible experience.
The library of the Church is used to check out books, sometimes to just relax reading a book there, to do homework and also to even have a meeting there with people in different groups (religious groups, and people that just want to talk).
The playground has lots of slides, monkey bars, wooden chips inside, and other equipment of tan and green color into different shapes to make it look more appealing to the children so they use it and have fun; while it is also safe with the type of material it contains and bolts embedded the equipment and a white fence surrounding the playground so there is more security.
What can I say about Dupree Park? There is not history ingrained in this public, relaxed neighborhood park. It has been created from what I have observed though my eyes and a website for the convenience of the people of the neighborhood and the people outside of this location. Dupree Park has been adding and subtracting accessories in the park to give the people what they want. With an already existing walk trail, playground, bike trail, basketball area, and tennis area, there are newer additions where there used to be a softball field now just being a large amount of space left where on the side they a disc course golf thing is being created, also, in a small parch of the large space is a newly constructed outdoor gym equipment. Who knows what other addition they will insert in the park. Besides it being a convenient park for the people,it can also be a form of entertainment for families making it a family park, and for individuals where they can have a BBQs, parties, family reunions, exercise in a new way, have a social event, and even have a date.
I had the pleasure to observe, note take, and analyze Dupree Park’s exterior landscape. It was a chilly afternoon around 6 pm, I thought there would be more people, but no. As I started to walk around the park, all I could hear was pure silence. All that made a noise was one car that was leaving, and a few white, black, and mixed ducks in the rippling lake. This abandonment I saw of the park was either because the people have busy schedules, maybe they did not like to go to the park or maybe even because of the chilly weather; I did not want to keep staying there myself because I was freezing. Besides this, immediately as I was walking around in the cold I could see how this large space where there used to be a softball field, where a new outdoor equipment had been inserted, where only 90% of the large space is a bit of healthy green grass but mostly dead brown grass, where there is a murky dark green rippling lake filled with a couple of ducks, an area where the playground filled with slides and swings and monkey bars with a white fence surrounding it making me remember those sweet childhood memories, two public bathrooms, two very basic pavilions, a large parking lot, cement, wooden fences, pine cones, and large tall trees gave me a feeling this is a very basic, simple, multi-functional, convenient, free, tranquil, relaxing park as I have said before. On a few different points, I could not smell anything in the air, it was like nothingness; The only thing I could feel was the chill, dry air of the atmosphere and the only thing I could taste was my spearmint gum in that moment. That was my journey in Dupree Park.
