Adnan’s cellphone records were used by the prosecution to determine his location at the time of the burial of Hae Min Lee’s body. The cell phone records show that Syed received two incoming calls around 7pm the day Lee went missing. The pings came off of a cell tower that covered the area where the victim’s body was found. This information was used by the prosecution to create a timeline of Syed’s possible opportunities where he could have time to dispose of the body (Simpson).
The significance of the cell records have been underminded since on the fax cover of the records was a notice that states that the locations of phone for incoming calls is not reliable.
