Do We Really Need Smartphones?

What would you do if one day you are no longer be able to use smartphones anymore? Do we really need smartphones in our lives? Those are the questions that I’ve always try to answer my whole life. Technology is now being used to create tools in order to resolve issues and make them more accessible. One specific invention that arose as a result of advances in the industry was the smartphone, which soon became a major part of our lives. In a short period of time, they have become indispensable components on which everyone relies excessively, especially in their daily lives. As a result, we have been unwittingly slaves to technology.

How smartphones have changed our lives and enslaved us

Smartphones are simply a device that combines a standard cell phone with a computer, offering internet access, data storage, e-mail functionality, and almost anything just in the palm of your hand. Because of all the benefits that smartphones provide, we will soon be reliant on them, and they have reinvented the way humans interact. Nowadays, everyone has their own smartphone and they can use it anywhere; on the street, on the bus, in school, and in all places that person can possibly be. Personally, I don’t agree this is how life should be; we live in a society surrounded by inconsiderate people that don’t think for their friends, families but know a lot about people they will never encounter in their lifetime.

Furthermore, the benefits that smartphones have for human life are endless, but everything has two sides, and we tend to only look at the bright side. Instead of making us more connected, smartphones could make us less likely to participate in face-to-face conversations, which involve direct eye contact and enable users to say stuff they wouldn’t dare to say in public. Back in the day, families would gather together, sit down, and sharing their own stories. After the invention of smartphones, communities have shifted from gathering into a time to use our phones. As a consequence, we are beginning to lose face-to-face communication, which was once such an important aspect of our lives, and it’s being substituted by digital message apps on smartphones.

Phone and Bad Skin: How Are They Related?

Although the advantages of smartphones are endless, we must not take advantage of them and let them get way out of hand. Using smartphones too frequently is a bad habit in society that seems to appear a lot more in the young generation. According to the research, teens view their phones as more than just an accessory. To summarize, smartphones can socially detach us from the physical world, and things will need to change before we can no longer control it.
