For the second project, we were asked to draw three drawings for this project that utilized different materials. This included black ink, toned paper, white and terracotta colored pencils, watercolor paper, watercolor pencils, and mixed media paper. It was also required to be in three different perspectives, atmospheric, 1-point, and 2-point. These three drawings were created with the next project in mind (as this was part 1 of 2). Therefore, I wanted to draw something related to traveling by train. Two pieces show the past, and one shows modern-day traveling (which fits my idea for the next project).
The first piece I completed was the mountains in an atmospheric perspective, which was painted using black ink and mixed media paper (14″ x 17″). With this piece, I was inspired by traditional Korean Art and a scene from Westworld (TV). My second piece was the train coming into the station, which was shown in a 1-point perspective, and was also inspired by Westworld (TV). For this piece, I used ink, watercolors (both pencil and paint), and of course, watercolor paper (9″ x 12″). The final piece was inside the train, completed in a 2-point perspective. For this drawing, I used colored pencils, with the mandatory white and terracotta pencils drawn onto the grey-toned paper (9″ x 12″). This was a challenging project with many techniques and mediums I had never tried before.
