For our first Project, we were asked to make 11″x14″ collage posters that supported a cause that we believe deserves more compassion. I wanted to spotlight caregivers, especially those who support their loved ones struggling with mental health. Through this, I chose to use muted colors and plenty of blues (to symbolize the melancholy and loneliness these caregivers often feel but also the kind sympathy they convey to their loved ones). The collage aspect of the posters needed to be handmade and not digitally created (although digital text and borders were allowed). These handmade pieces were mostly made up of magazine cutouts, but here and there, I also used tape, false eyelashes, yarn, paint, and of course plenty of glue.
