Japchae (잡채)

Image result for japchae      Japchae (잡재) is a stir-fried noodle dish made from sweet potato noodles called 당면. You may know that the noodles themselves are alternatively called glass noodles due to them being transparent but since the noodles are stir-fried with soy sauce, they become golden in color. You would typically find thinly sliced vegetables in this dish such as carrots, spinach, and mushrooms which give 잡채 its colors. The word 잡채 has the literal meaning ‘mixture of vegetables’ due to the words 잡 which means mixed/stirred and 채 meaning vegetables. In many households, this dish is also made with the addition of meat and tends to be garnished with sesame seeds.

 2018년 있을때 집에서 저하고 우리 엄마는 잡채를 함께 요리했었어요. 그 음식은 다른 색을 들어 있었고 아주 맛있었어요.

In 2018, my mom and I cooked 잡채 together at home.  The food was very colorful and tasty. Although my mom is a picky eater, she enjoyed eating 잡채 as well.
