Scholarships, Grants, and Research Opportunities

Scholarships, Grants, and Research Opportunities

I decided to create this website to help my students find scholarships, grants, and internships that actually applied to freshmen and sophomores. As an undergraduate student, I didn’t realize all of the opportunities that existed. I didn’t even know that you could still apply for scholarships after high school. I take this as my responsibility to inform my students of the opportunities that exist so that they can leave college with the least amount of debt as possible.

Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program  Summer Program February This Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program emphasizes engaging students in interdisciplinary earth systems research that builds collaboration and communication skills for solving complex environmental problems. We will use wetland restoration as a lens through which participants will get hands-on experience studying the interactions between science and society that shape ecosystem functions and services.  This is an interdisciplinary program and we welcome participants from all academic majors who are interested in environmental science questions. We especially welcome applications from students in the mathematical and statistical sciences with cross-disciplinary interests. This 10-week program will run from Sunday, May 22 to Saturday, July 30. Participants are provided with a $6,000 stipend for the summer, plus reimbursement for travel to/from Rochester, on-campus housing, and a meal allowance.

This program is for students who are enrolled in a college or university, including community college, and who will not yet have completed their undergraduate degree by the end of the summer session. This program is particularly well suited for students who will be completing their second or third year and who have limited access to research opportunities at their home institution. We encourage women, members of under-represented minorities, and deaf or hard-of-hearing students to apply. NSF funding requirements restrict participation to students who are US citizens, US nationals, or permanent residents.

Perimeter Research Assistantship Summer Program March The Perimeter Research Assistantship program is for students in any pathway at Perimeter College of Georgia State University, with interest in pursuing Master’s degrees, PhD’s, JD’s, or MD’s. The program provides funding for part-time research on the Atlanta Campus with a faculty mentor in the summer.
Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE) Summer Program January The SURE program is a ten-week summer program during which undergraduate research fellows conduct full-time independent research under the direction of a faculty mentor. Both Emory and non-Emory students are eligible to apply for the Natural and Biomedical Sciences Program.
Crest D-MAP Undergraduate Summer Research Program Summer Program March D-MAP is launching a new summer program for undergraduates. The summer program pays a stipend of $4000 to engage full-time in research and professional development.

D-MAP at GSU is a Center for Research Excellence in Science and Technology (CREST) Summer Program funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF). The CREST promotes the development of new knowledge, enhancements of the research productivity of individual faculty, and the expanded presence of students historically underrepresented in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines. D-MAP stands for the Center for Dynamic Multiscale and Multimodal Brain Mapping Across the Lifespan, reflecting the research interests of faculty and students to understand how the brain changes over the lifespan using various neuroimaging, data mining, analysis, machine learning, data visualization, and neuroinformatics technologies.

NASA Community College Aerospace Scholars (NCAS)   April NASA Community College Aerospace Scholars (NCAS) opens doors for 2-year community college students seeking a STEM degree.
