Compassion Poster

For our first project in the Introductory Studio course, we were tasked with creating two 11’x17’ sized posters. The first poster had to bring attention and show compassion to a particular group. Along with this, we had to research the group we were covering in our poster. As a final requirement we had to interview someone related to the group and/or topic we decided to cover with our own specific questions. For the second poster, we had to use the GSU outreach programs as the basis. It could involve programs such as Panther Pantry, Mental Health Counseling Center, and the Military Outreach Center. The two topics I decided on were Pollution and Stress. For the first poster centered around pollution, I researched the harmful effects pollution has on our community and the environment around us. I decided to create to poster through a collage of images I found online and in old magazines. The whole poster was structured as a globe filled with what makes the world beautiful and how the images of destruction slowly corrode it. For my second poster, I researched the negative effects of stress and anxiety on the mind. To present the mental chaos stress can cause I created a chaotic amalgamation of images and colors protruding from ahead in a collage. I believe I put a lot of creativity and learned a lot in creating elaborate pieces of artwork through the medium of collage.
