Acadia Tutorial…

I really enjoyed the Acadia tutorial.  While I have to admit, I did not learn much that I haven’t already been told in the past, it was still a great refresher. I think students should remember these things all throughout their collegiate experience. In the past (mainly freshman and sophomore year) ,I was over worried about plagiarism and ended up overrunning my essays and papers with unneeded citations for information commonly”known or understood by the masses.  After two years of writing papers and dealing with annoyed professors, I finally wised up and stuck to citing the important relevant information versus the fluff.

My favorite part of the tutorial was the portion about research solely because it brought back A LOT of memories. I’m not the first student to pull an all nighter to finish a paper and i surely won’t be the last.  However this tip has so much value in it that people don’t realize! Always always always definitely research early.  Having to gather information last minute, formulate an argument, and support it in an essay that is due the next day is never a fun experience. Some people work well under pressure and short deadlines, while others (like myself) struggle to produce quality work when under the pressures of time.  I honestly hope more GSU professors will introduce students to this tutorial.  It may seem trivial to the seasoned college veteran, but it could truly help a lost or confused student in need of guidance.
