Tool Inventory
1. Task
2. Tools
3. Reason

1. You have to lead an online presentation on the contents of your history term paper.

  • a. Tools: Wiki and Video Sharing Sites Reason: Creating a Wiki page would help during a presentation online to readily reference your subject information, while using a site like YouTube to find a historical documentary or even Hollywood movie adaptation would add flare to a presentation and help to get an idea across to an audience.

2. The final exam for your economics course is coming up, and you need to collect all of your (and hopefully your classmates’) online resources for a study guide.

  • Tools: Video Conferencing and Email
  • a. Reason: Email would greatly assist in helping all parties organize the topics they wish to discuss. A video conferencing site like Skype, would easily allow everyone to meet from the comfort of their homes and do all the discussion they need on the topics for the exams

3. You need to create an interactive tour of Berlin as an assignment for your study abroad program.

  • Tools: Collaborative Visualization Tools and Web 2.0
  • a. Reason: The Collaborative Visualization Tools will tie everything together from outlining ideas, writing up the assignment, and putting it all together. Web 2.0 encompasses many different online tools that could assist the presentation by adding flare and keeping people interested in the topic you’re discussing.

4. You and a group of your classmates have been asked to do a collaborative research project on how Facebook has affected the social habits of young adults

  • Tools: Blogs and Electronic Social Networks
  • a. Reason: Blogs can capture a person’s opinion and outlook on life experiences. People are honest and usually very open to speaking their minds because they have taken time to create a blog themselves and produce them for the masses. Combine that with the raw feedback and opinions of social media outlooks like Facebook itself, it is almost too easy to get answers because it breaks down peoples lives day to day and keeps track of each years life events on Facebook.  Both tools together give great insight into the topic AND the blog could be used again to illustrate the findings for this assignment as well.
