Hello and welcome to my blog for English1103! I am Julia Zimmerman, an eighteen year old from Kennesaw, Georgia. Originally, I was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, but I have no recollection of my hometown because my family relocated to the metro-Atlanta area when I was three months old. I am extremely excited to be living in downtown Atlanta for university; I have always desired to live in a city where history, modernization, diversity, and livelihood radiates throughout the streets. I cannot wait for the opportunities that this urban environment presents. As far as hobbies go, I enjoy hiking, listening to music, making videos, watching television (particularly Food Network or sports), and cooking. I love hiking different places whether it be mountains, walking/nature trails, or bike paths! In regards to my future, I plan to major in Actuarial Science because I enjoy the rigor of mathematics and probability. In high school, I took a statistics course that inspired my pursuit to become an actuary. I found that I excelled and appreciated statistics and probability, thus an actuary is perfectly suited for an individual like me (plus I yearn to make $$$$). My desire to acquire money is attributed to my mother. My mother is a single parent of four children (I do not know my father) and has raised my siblings and me with unconditional love despite many hardships. Though she is an engineer, she receives limited income and therefore she has not acquired enough money to retire any time soon. I hope to provide for her one day because she has done anything and everything for me without failure; I want to aid her in retirement funds. To conclude, I am thrilled to further my studies at Georgia State University. I am thankful for the opportunity to learn and will never take my education for granted. Needless to say, I hope you enjoy my blog!
