Prompt 4: Self-Portrait

This is my self-portrait. I wanted to incorporate everything that I define my identity with to the best of my ability. Color pencils made up the structure, while pens made up details in my face. Game cartridges made up more of my facial features and also my ears, while different tech made up my lips. Lastly, I chose two items that define where I’m from, that being the camera and the Braves cap.
Nice, Trey! Not sure if you intended it to be but the game cartridges as ears is kinda deep. Also, I love how you made an actual face with your work. Your viewers can learn about you and try to picture your actual face. Cool! (ps. Go braves!)
I find it interesting how you chose to use 5 different objects multiple times, rather than using each object just ones. And you even made a whole face. I can tell that the color pencils represent the art/creative aspect of you and the game cartridges represent how much you like to play games. If I’m not wrong, the game cartridges for the eyes are Gameboy advance cartridges? If so they can further represent how you’ve played games since you were little/young and the other tech devices represent how you grew up using different technology.
I see the Braves hat alludes to being from Atlanta/Georgia. And prior to reading your description, I thought the camera simply represented that this is a picture of you; Everything else makes a face and the camera is set as if taking a photo back at the viewer.
Cool artwork! I love your approach
I really feel like I commented on this already. If not, this is great! I love how you made a self portrait out of items to create your self portrait.
I like that you actually made a portrait of yourself out of the items you found. A lot of your items also resonate with me, and I like that I found some relatability in your prompt. Good Job!
I love the scale of your portrait Trey–dramatic in size and engaging with the viewer’s space. The slight tilt of your eyebrows pull me in, giving you an inquisitive look. You are very artistic and ‘open minded’ ;-DDD. I am glad that you did not make it truly symmetrical, with the turn of the camera and extra pencils adding personality.
