My social change topic was for a much more fair pay for both men and women actors. I like movies so this would be something I would like to see change. It is just eye soring to see fine actresses hardly making half what the males are making in the industry. They are doing the same job so why the disparity in salary?

For my armor I thought of many things to incorporate into it, such as a movie camera to clapboard. Every one of my pieces was cardboard. For my garment I made a collage of pictures of celebrities, male and female on each side. Then I cut out sex symbols and glued them on the respective sides of the collage, creating an “equal” sign in the process, to convey that the 2 sexes should be equal in pay. For the head piece I simply design a clapboard to be on my head and put the words “EQUAL PAY” on it, which I cut out with vinyl sticker. And finally the thing I made for to hold in my hand was a replica of a movie camera. I cut out some circular cardboard pieces to make 2 film reels. Then attaching them to the actual camera, which was made by a box I have at work. The lens, I made out of rigid wrap and the camera handle broke off so I lacked any clay during the presentation.

I liked a lot of my peers’ armor, very creative and quality work. Overall I probably like this project the least of the 4. Nonetheless, it challenged me to think of a social movement I can get behind and I’m proud of what I did.
