Medium: Conte Crayon, Charcoal Pencil 4B, Vine Charcoal, Toned Paper
The final section to our mixed media project. Just like the skull assignment, we used those materials to draw ourselves instead of a skull. We used everything we learned as well as using a mirror to look at ourselves to create this piece. We studied the skull to help guide us in understanding how our heads are proportioned so we don’t accidentally give ourselves larger or smaller features by accident.
Using a darker paper very much helped me in terms of value, lessening the amount of charcoal needed to add value to my hair or other features. Then using conte crayons to add a pop of color to my art and also help direct where the lighting came from.
