Biography

Graduating from Woodward Academy in 2013, Jake McWhorter (b. 1995) developed his interest in music from a very young age. Throughout high school, he received private instruction in piano and voice, sang in various school choirs, and performed in musical theater productions (as well as non-musical shows). During his senior year, he was nominated for a Shuler Hensley Award (a Georgia High School Musical Theater Award), in the category of “Best Featured Performer”, for his portrayal of Nicely Nicely Johnson in the show, “Guys and Dolls”.

His love of various types of rock, hip-hop, and electronic music sparked his interest in how popular music is recorded and produced. In addition, he gained experience in music recording, production, and composition in an Electronic Music course offered at Woodward. Currently, Jake is studying as a Music Technology Major at Georgia State University, in the hopes of expanding his knowledge of music production. He is also studying voice with Prof. Dwight Coleman, and he is a member of GSU’s University Singers.
