For our first project in Three-dimensional design the class was tasked with sculpting different figures with paper. I chose to do an ocean theme for my sculptures, consisting of a dolphin, a sea anemone, a jellyfish, a sea turtle, a seahorse, a starfish, a crab, and an anglerfish. I wanted a flow to these sculptures that’s why I chose a theme. It was challenging to get the sea turtle, the starfish, and sea anemone to form on paper but using paper Mashay helped me work out many of the issues. I used an origami technique and folded the paper to look how I wanted for the other five. I enjoyed the origami method, especially when making my jellyfish.
I received helpful feedback on icollege on how to make my jellyfish. I took pictures of my projects to show on icollege for progress and feedback. The pictures I took had a lot of shadows, which helped with the theme I had. When I first started on the project, I was frustrated that none of my ideas were working. After doing some research I used two methods a paper Mashay method and origami method. Both methods I enjoyed using but the paper Mashay method is too messy for me. If I did this project in the future, I would not use this method. I would use the origami method and find a new method similar to paper Mashay. Overall, I found the project enjoyable and will use the techniques I learned on other projects.
