The psychodynamic approach contains the understanding of the unconscious thought, the conflict between biological drives and society, and childhood experiences one might have.
Sigmund Freud said that unconscious thought as unacceptable thoughts, feelings, or emotions that one might not have when they are conscious. This approach also brings up the ideas of the different stages of sleep, including the REM sleep. An example of someone in a psychodynamic state would be a person who gets knocked out. Drugs are another way that society uses a way to get to the psychodynamic approach.
A strength is the help with the defense mechanism as well as bringing the importance of ones’ childhood up. A limitation is that it isn’t really scientific. It lacks the empirical method.
