This project we were instructed to draw a contour piece which is a the process of drawing an outline of a subject, looking closely at the contour of an object, and transferring one continuous line to paper. We had to choose one wall and or closet to make a contour piece. We could not pick up our pen as we worked through the art.
In this project we had to use negative space which is when you draw the space around the object instead of the object itself. The subject for this piece was items under the sink, either in your kitchen or bathroom. We could not pose or adjust the objects which meant we had to draw it in its pure form. To start the process I cut in from the bottom area of my sink to space everything out, and then I worked from left to right. Making the lines lighter as I go back into the cupboard to show depth. Using negative space I was able to place everything in a realistic position.
