Objective:
To create 6-8 well-developed drawing expressing you view on an environmental issue you care about. Present two contrasting viewpoints about you chosen issue, research required. Use symbolism to express your idea. Incorporate a specific, real location using your own photographs or those of a recognized photographer. Using black as your primary color, grayscale.

Process:
After a class discussion with the use of ‘Divergent Thinking’ around HUMAN/NATURE. After a presentation by Prof Graves in the Biology Dept, a campus nature stroll and discussion with my professor I chose to research ‘Flowers and their Medicinal’ uses. The following is the Divergent Thinking Outline I used for clarity.

I selected flowers that were native to the South with Medicinal uses. The Cornflower, Scarlet rose mallow Hibiscus, Lavender, White mulberry and Dandelion. I chose to use the ink, black acrylic, ivory as water color and light use of crow quill pen. I also wanted to use text to within the pictures to demonstrate the names and Medicinal uses of the Flowers.
Going Forward:
This was a great experience for me with using permeate inks media. I decided early in the process that I would not start over with this project if something happened that was not in my plan. Work with Happenstance! I enjoyed the building power once the ink was dry, you could layer and build shadows within leaves and backgrounds. I developed my skills with the crow quill pen, less pressure more finesse. I will adding all of my newly developed skills to my Artist Tool Box.
