My Initial Definition of IDT

When I was in undergrad, I had no clue what I wanted to pursue after graduation. Coming from an English and Journalism background, I stumbled into the world of IT working in a Support Services Center. Somehow, IDT became an interest. My initial definition of IDT means teaching and instructing through technological means. Stemming from creating online training modules, to building online classrooms and curriculums.

I think my future IDT job will consist of building curriculums for K-12 and providing support with creating online learning modules to help students in particular subject areas.

Check out the below blogs:

I came across this blog recently when trying to gain a better understanding of the field from a Instructional Designer’s standpoint.  I am a complete novice to this field, but this blog provides a lot of insight into the field. There is one particular blog post titled, “What Kind of Instructional Design Do You Do?” that gives scenarios on different tasks of an IDT professional in different job capacities. If anyone is still figuring out what they want to delve in like myself, this blog may be of use.

Here is another interesting blog that talks more about social learning, e-kerning and trends in the field. There are some interesting reads, especially for those infested in the corporate side of the field.
