Atlanta Botanical garden lights return By Jordan Clements

            As Oct. comes to a close, the spooky, fall vibe transitions into Christmas cheer. The Atlanta Botanical Gardens have announced that they will be opening the seasonal garden lights on Nov. 7. The garden lights will be open seven days a week until Jan. 7. This will be the seventh year that the lights have made an appearance.

            The garden lights will be open Sunday through Thursday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. On Friday and Saturday they will open at the same time, but close an hour later. Guest are encouraged to call ahead in case of bookings and events that might be occurring that evening.

            Ticket pricing varies depending on the type of night it is. General admission on a a value night is $19.95 for adults and $14.95 for children (3-12 years old). Premium tickets on general admission nights are $29.95 for adults and $14.95 for children. General admission for regular and peak nights costs a little more. Guest should check the botanical website to determine which night is best fit for their family.

            Guest should also buy their tickets ahead of time for opportunities to save. Tickets increase at the door. All tickets purchased after 9 p.m. (on any night) are $13.95.

            Jamie Lau, a resident of Virginia-Highlands, said, “We will definitely be attending the lights again this year.” Lau contained to state that as a family tradition they take her 11 year old  son each year. “We spend the evening taking in the beautiful view. And when we are done we enjoy s’mores by the fire,” stated Lau. This will be the fourth year that the Lau family has attended the garden lights.

            On top of the beautiful light show there is plenty more to explore at the gardens. On Nov. 11 the train ride will return. On select dates Santa will be making an appearance for photo opportunities with the children. There will also be a reindog parade on Dec. 2. Guest can also enjoy s’mores and refreshments while enjoying the lights.

            David Dorris, an Atlanta employee who lives in the suburbs, stated, “We have never been to the garden lights, but I am hoping to make it this year. I have heard it is not only a great place for families but also romantic dates.” Dorris stated that he has attended light shows at other locations in Atlanta, but he had been advised that Atlanta Botanical’s was the most memorizing and would not disappoint. 

           The gardens are excited for another exceptional year. They see a maximum amount of guest every year. Tickets sell out fast so do not wait to purchase yours!

Professional biography

Jordan H. Clements

Jordan Clements is a Journalism student at Georgia State University. Her focused study is Public Relations, but she takes high interest in marketing as well. Clements currently works as a nanny and brand ambassador.

Clements attended Woodland high school. She graduated with Honors, AP credits and was also named one of the head editors of her school’s journalism program. While attending Georgia State University Clements has been listed on the Dean’s list of the university. 

This past summer Clements was given the opportunity to intern at Southern Proper Hospitality Group. While interning at Southern Proper Clements learned diverse information about the back works of a restaurant. She was in charge of the social media responses and updates. She also managed Yelp reviews and replies. Clements also assisted in donation giveaways, marketing promotions and menu item ideas.

Clements also has also taken part in plenty of brand ambassador work. In 2015 she was a brand educator for Vitacoco coconut water. She promoted the healthy product to the Atlanta community by free give aways, deals, and coupons.

Her brand ambassador work continued over into August of 2016, where she was hired as a brand ambassador for Urban Enterprises. Urban Enterprises is a marketing agency of Atlanta. They specialize in event staffing, community and office building distributions, and project managing. Some of their well known clients are Creating Loafing, Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta Jewish Film Festival, Midtown Alliance and many more! Recently in the summer, Clements was promoted at Urban Enterprises to be a community and office building distributor.

Working and attending school can be a tedious habit. However, Jordan makes an effort to get her lectures scheduled on two days a week in order to consume the other days with her work load. This plays a major role in her time management as well as her income.

Clements will be interning with her current employer starting in January. This internship will be for class credit and will count towards her degree. 

Clements owes a lot of her success to the encouragement and guidance her family, boyfriend and friends offer her. They have helped her out tremendously in her career in regards to her future. Clements’ anticipated graduation date is May 2018. Although she does not have a set career laid out just yet, she intends to work hard in order to discover what job best suites her and her future.
