Interview 1: Luke Rivera, Male

Is your style feminine, masculine or in between?

• Inbetween

Do you find yourself shopping in sections that are opposite to your cisgender? 

• Yes, all the time. Actually every time I go shopping. 

How comfortable are you shopping in your gender’s section?

• Pretty comfortable just because it’s normal to societal standards. But I also don’t feel uncomfortable shopping in the women’s section. 

What is your staple item of clothing?

• My bag or my shoes. My bag mostly because I always wear my bag. 

Where do you typically shop?

• Mostly thrift stores, second-hand websites or my mom’s closet. 

Is there an item of clothing that you would want but do not see/like in your gender’s section? If so, what is it?

• Yes, I don’t see good pants. No pants with flavor. I don’t see the stylish shirts that I would buy. 

Do you know of a gender-neutral clothing line/brand? What is it called?

• Yes, Telfar global. 

Do you value feeling comfortable in the clothes you wear?

• Yes, if I’m not comfortable in the clothes that I wear my attitude and personality are on where it needs to be. 

Would you be interested in shopping at a gender-neutral clothing store? 

• Yes

 

 

Interview 2: Olivia Beserra, Female

Is your style feminine, masculine or in between?

• Inbetween

Do you find yourself shopping in sections that are opposite to your cisgender? 

• Yes, when I’m looking for clothes I find myself in the men’s section when I’m looking for shirts, sweaters or jackets. I would look for pants more if they came in my size.

How comfortable are you shopping in your gender’s section?

• Pretty comfortable but I always check the men’s section too. 

How comfortable are you shopping in the opposite of your gender’s section?

• Completely comfortable. 

What is your staple item of clothing?

• Pants

Where do you typically shop? Why?

• Thrift stores
• Because they don’t just have one kind of clothing. They have variety. It’s cheaper.

Is there an item of clothing that you would want but do not see/like in your gender’s section? If so, what is it?

• Yes
• I find my sweaters, jackets and fleeces in the men’s section.

Do you know of a gender-neutral clothing line/brand? What is it called?

• No

Do you value feeling comfortable in the clothes you wear?

• Yes very much so.

• Mostly feminine.

• No

• Comfortable

• Tiny skirt 

Where do you typically shop?

• Value Village, thrift shops.

• Yes, sweatshirts.

• No, I don’t.

• Yes, my philosophy is, look good, feel good.
