Progressive Discipline

From time to time, issues related to job performance may develop. It is the university’s intention that these issues be the subject of candid and open discussion with the objective of improvement and prompt resolution.

Performance problems may include, but are not limited to:

  • Violation of or conflict with university policy
  • Job performance
  • Other job-related situations

Members of IIT HR Division Officer in partnership with the Employee Relations Team are available to advise and counsel supervisors and employees at any point during the progressive discipline. Please contact your IIT HR Division Officer.

Progressive Discipline Procedures

  1. Document the Disciplinary Action
  2. Verbal Counseling
  3. Written Reprimand – with or without a Performance Improvement Plan (PIP)
  4. Suspension
  5. Final Warning
  6. Performance Improvement Plan (PIP)
  7. Termination
