Self-Portrait Collage

Although this image is my bio pic- here I want the opportunity to explain my thinking when creating it. I watched Professor Lisa’s in class tutorial. She began by painting a piece of white paper and this became the backdrop for her collage. I did the same and chose the color purple. I used my Xacto knife to cut more precisely. I selected images/pages that spoke to things that I like. We were required to use a food wrapper to include in our image. I chose the label of one of my favorite BBQ sauces to add as my shoulder and I threw in something unlikely by adding the white open hand, well, using collage their is quite a bit of unexpectancy.

Some of My Favorite Things

Barbecue ribs — coated in a luscious, finger-lickin’-good sauce — is a taste treat for any day of the week. Several local restaurants prepare must-try versions that are perfect for takeout and delivery.

Women's Western Boot | Twisted X

A pair of my favorite boots. I enjoy TRAVELING, reading books with a historical bent, walking, and of course, creating spaces that make my family/friends enjoy being at home.

I have some pieces from my original wedding pattern. I keep it out AND we use it.

How To Create A Classically Elegant White & Gold Holiday Tablescape ~ Mantel and Table

DAVID Original Salted and Roasted Jumbo Sunflower Seeds, 16 oz Resealable Bag - Walmart.com - Walmart.com
Now & Later - Original Mix - Economy Candy

I grew up eating Sunflower seeds and Now and Later candy. The candy was $.05 and there were 7 individual blocks of hard candy in the pack. My father would give me $.25 and money to purchase him a pack of Winston cigarettes. WOW! Times have certainly changed. I still eat both of them on occasions. The candy is more difficult to find than the sunflower seeds.

Self-Portrait Animal Hybrid

This is my Self-portrait Animal Hybrid. I chose the elephant species, they play a critical role in their ecosystem. I hope that I play a positive a role in my environment.

Some elephant FUN Facts

  • Elephant Appreciation Day is September 22.
  • To celebrate, we picked 18 fun facts about the largest land mammal.
  • For example, they “hug” their trunks to say hello to each other.

While Elephant Appreciation Day is September 22, it doesn’t mean that we can’t celebrate these gentle giants every other day of the year.

Elephants are some of the smartest and most compassionate animals on the planet, and they’re always a big draw at the zoo … but how much do you really know about them?

From their 5-inch eyelashes to their 22-month pregnancies, here are 18 things you probably never knew about elephants.

An elephant’s trunk weighs 400 pounds, but it can pick up things as small as a single grain of rice.

Elephants use their trunk for everything! Drinking, eating, smelling, and communicating are all done by the trunk.

Elephants can recognize themselves in the mirror. They join humans, apes, and dolphins as the only animals with self awareness.

In-Class drawing

Early in the semester, we did a lot of drawings with monsters. I enjoyed creating the Creep family. They are a loving monster family of three. Creep Jr. is very typical of a child who follows in their parents footsteps. Both parents are close to retiring from their respective jobs in education. Creep Jr. aspires to become a math teacher. The boy has a thing with numbers. He is in the school band and plays the clarinet. Creep does get his education degree in mathematics and lands a job at his alma mater, Monster High. He does reasonable well and is adulting by mowing his lawn regularly, every two weeks, although a mundane chore. He visits his parents every Sunday for mom’s munster stew.

Materials:

We were able to use any medium that would not easily erase; no more than three. I chose color pens.

Compassion Poster: Communication

I enjoyed working on this composition! If I had to rank the order of fondness of the projects we’ve done this semester; Compassion Poster: Communication, would be my favorite. As indicated in my bio, this is what I do on a full-time basis and the opportunity to share on some level, this important work, with my peers and professor was exciting. The setting takes place in an auto bodyshop. I used that setting to compare the similarities of vehicles breaking down to someone with a communication breakdown. I included some of the ‘tools’ that would be necessary to assist in this kind of breakdown.

Materials:

I used collage, felt, pipe cleaners, crayons, and markers.

Compassion Poster: What does Democracy look like?

Compassion Poster: Democracy

My thinking when I created this composition was what comes to mind when I see a beautiful fruit bowl. I see varied shapes, colors, and textures. All the fruits have seeds, yet are not grown in the same place, or under the same conditions, and at the same time. I felt that a fruit bowl and the assorted content, metaphorically speaking, captures my thinking of what democracy looks like.

Materials:

I used collage, felt, makers, and glitter to create this project.
