About me: Biography

Gabrielle Viard is working towards earning an AB degree in Journalism. Viard herself in one day using her concentration in Public Relations to open up her very own PR firm.

Viard utilizes her part-time work experience in various customer service jobs to help strengthen her craft in a career that calls for quality communicators.

As a Georgia State University student, Viard aims to apply the knowledge and experience gained through the National Association of Black Journalist (NABJ). This organization was built on the foundation to help minorities such as Viard be able to have a voice in this industry. This organization has already granted Viard access to being able to volunteer as a Red Carpet Runner for the 7th Annual Rice Awards. Gabrielle was able to meet and network with major influencers stationed in Atlanta; CEOs of their own non-for-profit organizations giving back to the Atlanta communities.

Viard has been a proud member of Beloved Haiti; a non-profit organization focused on educating the community on the Haitian culture, while giving back to the community in the act of fundraisers and events. Viard has grown up with her mother’s organization, she has evolved from performing the traditional folklore dances to creating the program sheets for the events.     

In 2008, Viard was invited to represent Beloved Haiti at Usher’s New Look Foundation in a youth leadership conference. Viard participated in a three-day conference that featured a diverse group of young entrepreneurs showcasing their businesses and projects. Viard was able to part-take in team-building activities, meet and gain mentors of influencers from all over the world.      

Although, Viard holds Haitian heritage, she embarked on a voyage that has not only set her apart in her career path, but has also enhanced her nonverbal communication skills. Viard completed a month-long study abroad program, studying Visual Communications, in Salvador, Brazil. Viard attended Portuguese survival classes and went on a series of excursions that augmented her perception and understanding for a culture different than her own.

EvenOdds is the name of co-host, Dwight Porte and Viard’s YouTube channel. Viard and Porte strive to produce well-rounded content that expresses the factors that set apart women from men, in a variety of skits, challenges, and open discussion. Viard is practicing her public speaking and camera skills within this outlet. EvenOdds provided Viard with general knowledge of editing and publishing video content. 

Viard is a senior seeking internship opportunities in Public Relations, social media, radio, and broadcast.
