First Endowed Graduate Research Assistant

Rahna CarusiIn 2010, Rahna Carusi was named the first endowed Graduate Research Assistant for our Women’s Collections, a position generously supported by Our Mothers’ Fund (established by Margaret Miller Curtis and Dorothy Gibson-Ferrey), the Donna Novak Coles Georgia Women’s Movement Endowment, and the Lucy Hargrett Draper U.S. Equal Rights Amendment (1921-1982) Research Collection Endowment.

Rahna earned her PhD in GSU’s English Department, studying Literary and Critical Theory, Psychoanalytic Theory, Feminisms, and Queer Theory.  During her two years as Endowed GRA, Rahna arranged and described a discreet portion of the expansive Gretta Moll Dewald Papers (1944-1994), and edited a number of oral histories from the Georgia Women’s Movement Oral History Project. She also curated an exhibit: “Taking Back Our Lives: Georgians Stand Up to Violence Against Women.” Rahna is currently a tutor in Academic Writing in the School of English and Media Studies at Massey University in New Zealand.

During the 2012 Georgia Women’s Movement Spring Event, Rahna spoke about her experiences as a feminist scholar working with the Women’s Collections.
